The second of back-to-back home matches for Truro City is the visit of Plymouth Parkway. This match marks the first time the two clubs have shared a division, with no prior cup meetings. Truro City, with 115 years of history, is excited to face Plymouth Parkway for the first time ever. The Tinners have a small connection with Parkway, as they visited their home ground in 2023 in a 2-0 win against Truro City, sharing the ground at the time.
Plymouth Parkway, formed in 1988 following a split in youth football, has a rich history. They joined the Plymouth and District League in 1992, bypassing one division and becoming founding members of the Devon League. A name change to Ex-Air Flyers Plymouth was made during their infancy, followed by another name change to Plymouth Parkway in 1997, reflecting their home ground at Parkway Sports Club. In 1997, they joined the South West Peninsula League, where they remained for twenty seasons, achieving several high finishes and winning their first title in 2014. They won the title again in 2018, earning promotion to the Western League and step four of the National League structure. They have remained at this step for four seasons, with two top-half finishes. In cup competitions, they have had relative success, including a 4QR appearance in the FA Cup in 24/25 and reaching the 4th Round of the FA Trophy in 21/22.
The match against Plymouth Parkway is particularly interesting as it involves a familiar face. Andrew Neal, a Truro City legend, will be playing for Plymouth Parkway. Neal departed Truro City following their dramatic final-day promotion in 2025, to rejoin Plymouth Parkway after a brief spell. Toby Down, a centre-half who netted a brace against Bracknell Town, is another familiar face. He has previously played for Exeter City, Weymouth, and Taunton, among other Devonian clubs.
Plymouth Parkway started the season strongly with a 7-0 victory over Bracknell Town on the opening day. They visited Bath City on Tuesday, with the match finishing 1-1. The match will be a significant test for Truro City, and supporters are encouraged to attend. Tickets are available on the gate, with prices ranging from £15 for adults to £3 for under-15s.
