Truro City missed the chance to go top of the National League South after letting a two-goal lead slip in a 2-2 draw at Farnham Town. The White Tigers were 2-0 up at half-time but conceded twice in the second half to drop two points.
Tyler Harvey opened the scoring after just eight minutes, finishing with his right foot from a Jack Stretton assist. Max Kinsey then doubled the lead in the 37th minute, glancing a Connor Riley-Lowe corner past goalkeeper Mike Eacott for his first goal in the division. Christian Oxlade-Chamberlain had an early chance for Truro before the opener, and Harvey shot wide when looking for a second before Kinsey struck.
Farnham Town changed their approach after the break and were rewarded with two goals in seven minutes. Rakish Bingham pulled one back on the hour mark before Trae Cook-Appiah levelled the scores midway through the second half. The hosts' resurgence saw them create further opportunities, with Truro goalkeeper James Hamon making a key save to deny a late winner.
Manager's reaction
John Askey told reporters he was frustrated by the goals his side conceded. "We're disappointed in the goals that we gave away. I think the first one especially," the Truro City manager said. He acknowledged Farnham's tactical shift caused problems. "Momentum changes then, having dominated for most of the first half we were playing really well." Askey added that his team needed to be more resilient to see out games from such a strong position.
Table implications
The draw leaves Truro City fourth in the table with 18 points from 10 games. They are just one point behind leaders Maidstone United, meaning a win would have sent them top. Their record stands at five wins, three draws and two defeats. Farnham Town's point moves them up to 12th place.
Despite the setback, Truro remain unbeaten in their last five matches, a run that includes three wins. They must now regroup quickly for a trip to face 21st-placed Braintree Town on Saturday, 10 October. Check our fixtures page for the full schedule.

Farnham Town manager Paul Johnson praised his substitutes for changing the game in the 2-2 draw on 6 October. Johnson said bringing on Bobby-Joe Taylor and Trae Cook-Appiah in the 54th minute allowed his side to revert to their usual formation. Taylor assisted Rakish Bingham's goal before Cook-Appiah scored the equaliser. Johnson told the Farnham Herald, "The substitutes were excellent and they changed the flow of the game." Truro City, who are fourth with 18 points, remain one point off the top.
