Truro City have signed 20-year-old defender Jack Matthews on a one-year deal with an option to extend. Matthews, a former Plymouth Argyle player, graduated from Argyle's academy but made only one first-team appearance. He had loan spells at Tavistock, Taunton Town, and Bath City as he gained first-team experience. Matthews was on trial with Truro City and played as a second-half substitute in the 1-0 defeat by Argyle at the Truro City Stadium on July 25. He has joined a former Argyle contingent at Truro that includes Tyler Harvey, Luke Jephcott, Ryan Law, and another new signing, Lewis Colwell. Truro City ended their pre-season schedule with a 3-0 win away to Plymouth Parkway on Saturday, when Matthews was an unused substitute. Next fixture: vs Torquay (at home, 2026-12-26).
