Truro City's season in the National League has come to a close with a 1-0 loss to Carlisle United, but manager John Askey is proud of his team's commitment. The Tinners were relegated over Easter, but Askey says his side has shown great character to continue competing. The effort for the players to continue to do that when they know that we're down says more about them than when you win things, Askey told BBC Radio Cornwall. Truro City's defeat was their 28th in 45 games this season, 15 of which have been by a single goal. Askey added that the amount of games that we've lost 1-0 is crazy. We have improved, as I keep saying, and you can see that from when we played the first game of the season to this game. But there's no givens for next season - just because we put in a good performance now we've got to make sure that next season we become hard to beat and we're fighting to get into the playoffs next season. Askey's team will look to regroup and come back stronger next season. The club's fans will be hoping for a better outcome next year. And with Askey at the helm, they have a good chance of achieving that. But for now, the team will have to settle for a disappointing end to the season. The final score was 1-0 in favor of Carlisle United. Truro City's players will have to wait until next season to try and turn their fortunes around.
