Truro City Football Club is set to develop a player pathway academy for 16 to 18-year-old students at Truro and Penwith College. The partnership will enable football students to access a professional football environment while continuing their studies. Alex Black, Truro City's director of football, said the academy will create the first clear pathway into full-time professional football for young people in Cornwall. Luke Payne, head of sport, health and education at Truro and Penwith College, added that the partnership is about opportunity for football students and those who want to work in professional sport beyond playing. Opportunities open to the students include media and communications, sports science, therapy, and rehabilitation and event management. The college has excellent facilities and people, and together with Truro City, they can give students opportunities that simply haven't existed before. The academy will focus on the career development of all students, with the long-term ambition of seeing a professional Truro City player emerge. Truro City's academy will provide a professional football environment, including opportunities to play in a stadium setting and take part in the FA Youth Cup. The partnership is a significant development for Truro City and Truro and Penwith College, and is expected to benefit young footballers in Cornwall. Truro City's director of football, Alex Black, is excited about the opportunities the academy will provide. The academy is set to be an important part of Truro City's development, and will help to identify and nurture young talent in Cornwall.
